What scars from a past military conflict refuse to heal years, decades or even centuries later?

Humans that are connected via the Telenetic Link have their public information stored immediately upon accessing the Telenetic Link. Private info is inaccessible via Telenetic Link, but it is in private data storage. When we die, our private information can be transferred to the Telenetic Link.

There is an internal divide in Antaizon. Some religious sects encourage the full transfer of your private records to the Link upon your death. They believe that this confers a sort of immortality for humans. It remains unclear whether the Telenet can preserve consciousness, but it can definitely deserve a remarkable amount of information from people's private minds and memories.

Others believe that you should not give over your private self. That your private self should only be shared with the Great Beyond, it is not up to the whims of humanity.

As the Telenet developed, this was a cause of major political conflict with some religious sects engaging in acts of terrorism against Telenet companies. In response, the Antaizon Parliament passed laws explicitly creating a Right to Private Consciousness.

As the Civil War escalated and both sides became more desperate for victory, General Sandlin authorized the first use of EMPs against civilian populations. The result was that in attacks on Integralist Communities, millions weren't just killed; their private data was erased. On the one hand, this may have been a turning point in the war, leading to the collapse of the Decentralist's popular support when the story leaked out. (After an initial coverup) On the other hand, Integralists have been careful to gloss over their own use of EMPs. They were long rumored to create modifications to their weapons that could erase someone if shot at point blank range.

During the third term of Magdaleina Huron-and under pressure from a Parliamentary investigation- she launched a Truth and Reconciliation Committee with the goal of investigating erasures and reconstructing as much data as possible for Telenetic Records.
