The Age of Worms / A Gathering of Winds pt. 8/ Kith the 4th, 3593 CE / 2-12-23

Having reached a ceasefire with the true ghoul Moreto, the party returns up the Falling River to the antechamber of the True Tomb of Icosiel. There they place the Seal of Law which Moreto had stolen, the Invevitable Guardian is able to open the massive runed doors, revealing a bizzarre chamber beyond, before he leaves the party, his duties fulfilled. A series of columns of varying heights are the only path forward, while storming clouds cover the floor, concealing the true depth of the pit which may lie at the bottom. Coal leads the charge with his firewalking ability, but Wind Warriors guard the air around the columns, and enforce the proper order of touching each successive column in turn in order to proceed. Coal learns quickly that the columns have tricks of their own, as he flies up to the third one, only to fall when he learns that the top half was an illusion. The rest of the party begins to follow, except for Idra who is still repelled by the antipathy of the True Tomb and Nari, who has chosen to stay with her companion. They discover that the door at the very end of the chamber is false one, but that there is an indentation the size and shape of the Seal of Law on the fifth column. Moreto conjectures that when the last party member enters the chamber, the doors will close and reveal the Seal once more, and his theory turns out to be correct. Placing the Seal in the column causes it to rise, and take the rider to a Icosiel's final resting place in a chamber above. But this final resting place is guarded by a demon who was placed there as punishment millenia ago and a battle ensues.
