Strange Aeons / The Rushton Terror pt. 4 / Eire the 10th, 3592 CE / 6-30-20
General Summary
The party fights for their lives against a gibbering mouther that has made its home underneath Worm's Hook, an abandoned pier on the outskirts of Rushton. They have come to this lonely place seeking a satchel that Hemlock had stashed there prior to losing his memories. Rallying together, they beat down the bizarre abomination, with Garrok delivering a smashing death blow. Upon retrieving the satchel that they were seeking. they find that along with some coins, the satchel contains a potion, a scroll, and wand with a piece of parchment declaring it "propery of Yew." Knowing they have some time before they are hoping to connect with the fisherman Otis Remsatter at the Silver Carriage, the party splits up to pursue various interests. Gleorn remains in the fishing district, and hears stories of some strange stelae located around Rushton which may have some connection to the town's history and the Stonebriar Witch. Esp works on creating a ring. Hemlock and Sigvald head back to the Silver Carriage, where they encounter the doomsayer Elgris Nesmith tending bar. Hemlock is seeking more information on the well-dressed strangers who have been making their way to Rushton. Elgris provides little information other than the fact they all seem to eventually make their way to Orchid Hill, the estate of Baron Haver Lowell IV. He then points out two of the strangers who are just exiting the inn. Hemlock attempts to make introductions with the pair, hoping his own finery will allow him to pose as an ally, but finds himself stymied when they mysteriously ask if he has "seen the yellow sign."
The party regroups that evening and returns to the Silver Carriage, now bustling with activity from the returned fishing fleet. Esp psychically scans the room and attempts to filter out the clutter of thoughts, while Hemlock spots his friend Kendrick, who helpfully points out the man they are seeking; the fisherman Otis Remsatter, who is the only one to have seen the strange light in the sea cave which the party suspects may be related in some way to the Stonebriar Witch and other happenings around the town, They make friends with the jovial fisherman, and soon convince him to take them out in his boat to observe the phenomenon for themselves. Though now unlit, Otis is still able to locate the sea cave, and even agrees to land the party on the shore outside the cave opening, though nervously rowing back out into the bay to await the completion of their task. The party stands before the dark cave, and Gleorn spots an unusual vine growing along the sea wall.
