Strange Aeons / In Search of Sanity pt. 20 / Eire the 8th, 3592 CE / 2-19-20

The party rises from a restless sleep in Stonebriar Asylum's looted apothecary. The apostle they captured appears to have slipped into a coma. Nonetheless, Haskell insists that after binding the unconscious fanatic with manacles, that he be left there in the hopes that salvation may still come for him as well as the rest of the poor souls trapped in the cursed asylum. Backtracking to the looted office, they open the northern doors to reveal the apostles' main campsite in the asylum's former cafeteria. As a crowd of the yellow robed zealots begins the gather menacingly, a man in a doctor's frock approaches and ushers the group into his triage tent at the back of the encampment. In the tent they find a brutish looking hobgoblin waiting. The man introduces himself as "Doctor Ellis Renfield" and his assistant as Garok, a former orderly. He explains that he has been treating the apostles injured in skirmishes with the ghouls in exchange for his and Garok's continued safety. After comparing notes, the two groups agree that destroying the conduits to the dreamlands is the best way to stop the curse of the yellow mist. Renfield tells them that Zander Ulverus rules this part of the asylum, and that the conduits are his lieutenants which he refers to as "oneirogens." Though Zander has made his command post just up the large staircase leading from the cafeteria, one oneirogen was left trapped in the west wing, which is overrun with ghouls. The party agrees to seek out this lone oneirogen and destroy it before attempting a full assault on Zander himself. Renfield sends Garok with them for additional muscle. They make their way into the kitchen, where they are confronted by a bizarre haunted cauldron which drives Hemlock and Garok to the brink of madness. Pushing forward, Garok informs them the next room is an orderly station. However, entering the room, they discover that a door to the grounds has been left open and yellow mist is filling the room. Moving to investigate the open door, Esp finds herself assaulted by a bizarre, iridescent lizard. As two more of the creatures join the first, the party finds themselves fighting for their lives against the strange creatures from the mist.
