Perren Auldwyl
A farmer and elder of the small hamlet of Erstlin, located on the Sighing Plains. Perren was aware of the illicit business that many of the Erstlin's residents were conducting with the cultists of the Hand of Naraash, allowing Erstlin to be used a drop point for smugglers to run weapons north to the cult, however he did not condone these actions, and therefore mostly kept to himself. In 3591 CE he was even so bold as to follow some of the cultists into the foothills of the Grey Mountains, along the trail they called the "Black March," however his nerve did not hold long enough to locate their base of operations. When Adventurers passed through the hamlet in 3592, on the trail of a wayward paladin of Jeda named Jaryn, he took them into his home for the night, hoping to protect them from the truth of Erstlin's arrangement with the cultists. However, it was to no avail, as cultists arrived that very night to collect their cache of weapons, and were informed of the the newcomers' presence. Though they attacked Perren's farmhouse on mass, hoping to both murder the occupants and burn the place down as a warning to others, the Adventurers fought back bravely, slaying most of the hobgoblins and bugbears in the raiding party and driving the rest into the night. Unfortunately, Perren was grouped with his guests when the next day the other villagers demanded that they all depart Erstlin immediately. Packing up his wagon with his belongings, Perren headed for Lemora to visit his son, Scot, but not before bestowing upon the Adventurers the map he had drawn of the Black March, hoping they could succeed where he had failed in locating the heart of the evil cult and destroying it.
