Anoria Campaign / The Rose of Jumlat pt. 5 / Nulen the 1st, 3592 CE / 1-25-2021

Cyla Fletcher and her companions, the dwarven former-caravan foreman Anwar and the shifty peddler Waqari, have arrived at the secret boathouse of Akhbar the Sea Mage. Each has their own reasons for being there; Cyla's being to recover the jewel known as the Rose of Jumlat in the hopes that it may hold secrets to reversing the Curse of False Djinn which has befallen her friend Thesk. After doing a reconnaissance of the sea cliff that holds the boat house and seeing no outward signs of activity, Cyla directs her flying carpet into a sea cave where there is another hidden dock. With Anwar keeping watch outside, Cyla and Waqqari head into the cliffside compound, discovering that a group of Akhbar's corsairs are carousing, including on old man wearing the same veil that Samia Mustafar wore when she was travelling in disguise. Careful avoiding the corsairs, Cyla discovers a crawlspace the runs gains her access to a hidden store room containing Samia's brother Talgu. After scouting out more of the compound, Cyla returns to rouse the unconscious Talgu while Waqari hides in the crawl space from the corsairs who have begun lighting torches around the boathouse now that the sun has set. As Talgu regains consciousness, he alerts Cyla that the skeletal corpses littering the store room are more than they seem just before they rise up to attack her. Cyla flees the skeletons, but they pursue her relentlessly, despite her attempts to slow them down. As she and Waqari reach an area that serves as drinking hall for entertaining Akhbar's pirate guests, Cyla summons Thesk from her ring before busying herself attempting to disable the deadbolt on one of the drinking hall's exterior doors. Thesk meanwhile uses her prodigious strength to tear the ladder free from the hatch leading to the crawlspace, causing skeletons to shatter as they fall through. As Thesk and Waqqari continue to batter the approaching skeletons, Cyla feels the lock give way.
