Personal history
Manfred was born as a son of an Imperial noble. As a member of the nobility he was obligated to serve in the Imperial military. He was stationed in Gefallenstadt(Susannestadt) and joined Irenaeus' rebellion after the temples of The Fallen in the city were burnt. Manfred lead a squad of imperial soldiers during an attack on the governor's palace. He killed the governor himself and cut off his head. The soldiers proclaimed Manfred their leader.
After the Battle at Golden Fields the imperial administration in the Plain of Lugia collapsed and the regions was in danger of going into anarchy. Manfred used his popularity among the soldiers to try to secure a political position for himself. First, he went to his family's estate and dipose his father. Then, using his family's influence, Manfred secured for himself a position of overlord for major cities of the plain. When his position was stabilized he invoked an ancient Lugian tradition and made him the high judge for all Lugians. With so much authority Manfred decided to crown himself the King of Lugia. However, Koschei the Deathless, last loyal imperial servant, challenged him to a duel for the throne of Lugia. Before the duel Manfred was visited by one of the closest followers of Irenaeus who gave him a necklace. The follower said that Lady Susanne asked him to give it to Manfred. Manfred put the necklace on before the duel. When Koschei saw the necklace, he panicked and ran away. It is said that the necklace was enchanted against the power of The Fallen.
