Harmony Venom

Properties

Origin & Source

Harvested from the fangs of the Harmony Viper, which is found only in the Firadas Prairie.

History & Usage

Everyday use

The venom is typically used by healers to manage pain in the area it is injected.

Hazards

It's recommended to only use the venom when badly injured, never when healthy. The reason for this is that many adventurers and upperclass folk have been reported to use the venom before a battle or dangerous trick and then proceed to get themselves killed due to not knowing how injured they were and keep going.

Environmental Impact

The Harmony Viper is the only source of this venom and is endemic to the Firadas Prairie. There have been attempts to keep this species in captivity for easier access to the venom, but they get extremely distressed and will die within days. As a result, all venom must be harvested from wild individuals, which is putting the species at risk.   Many Venom Milkers do not have proper training to handle this species in a way that reduces stress for the snake, and the snake will perish shortly after it's venom is extracted. They have also been known to destroy vital burrows that the snakes rely on to escape predators and extreme weather, reducing the snakes chances of survival. All of this has caused the snake population to decline, and in return, reduce the amount of venom available for use. There have been recent attempts to try and protect the snake to ensure that there is still venom available.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Due to the decline snake population and how much effort is required to find, milk and transport this venom, harmony venom is considered a luxury item, only used by the rich or extremely dire situations. Several merchants have attempted to keep the harmony viper in captivity to increase the supply of venom, but so far no one has succeeded.
