The magical process required to create a halfling requires a human child who has not undergone puberty and will eternally prevent said puberty takimg place

Most do not change at all unless they start learning the arts of magic, where, over tue course of 2-5 centuries they will become more fungoid in nature.

Ecology and Habitats

Halflings are hypercarniverous beings who use their human child visage to lure lone or foolish humans into the deep woods for consumption.

Hyper carniverous. Unable to consume any form of foliage

Biological Cycle

A Grandma Tree (aka a Lich Tree) is grown from the still beating heart of an Arch Druid. The sap/blood of said tree is fed to a child who undergoes the transformation into a halfling.

If the resultant halfling learns magic they will slowly become moreand more fungoid in nature until the time comes to cut out their hearts and plant a new Grandma Tree

Behaviour

Predatory. Always looking for lone kindly humans to lure out to the middle of nowhere to devour.

They will befreind human kids and lure them out to the woods to undergo the Wyrding Path.
