The Return of Magic and the Transformation of Transportation Essay

We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike. - May Angelou
The most recent global change occurred a few years ago in 2020. What was it? Magic returned and then caused all modern-day conventional transportation systems to cease functioning and disappear from the planet. Humanity was forced to return to the old way, horses and other animals. It wasn't easy but magic somehow brought back a huge number of horse breeds that were not thriving and some that were extinct but apparently were needed. Along with horses, Alicorns/Pegasi and Unicorns were added.

Background

One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest. - Maya Angelou
Before this global event, humans had mostly moved away from hose-drawn vehicles (carts and wagons and buggies and carriages) and moved into the more modern variety of transportation (trains, planes, and automobiles). Humanity had high technology and electronics which also died and disappeared. Then magic returned. And all magical phenomena and beings did as well. This was a fundamental shift of human society and a whole new world for all of Humanity.

Societal Impact and Adaption

Society has truly been impacted in a variety of ways.   The first way was that they had to learn magic and magical beings did exist.   The second is that with the collapse of the infrastructure of cities and countries, no high tech survived. Humanity had to revert to older forms of transportation which became essential for good and people to travel across vast distances (or differences). And also communication reverted back to letters mailed and smoke signals. It helped that Unicorns and Pegasi/Alicorns were able to help fill the gap.   And the last thing was that professions, which was thought to be extinct or not needed, gained new prominence. Some people had to change jobs, go back to learn a trade, or help someone else.   Both individuals and organizations transitioned although with significant challenges. Some of which have been listed and others not yet known.

Cultural and Environmental Effects

There were profound changes for Humanity. Many are which have already been discussed. But what about nature? It too is doing much better. And Humanity has less population in general. It turns out many in prison died. The elderly also had much of their population died.   Humanity also became closer to nature and to the ancient ways. They revived many, if not all, traditional ways. But it was magic that also came with its' own challenges and opportunities. New laws were developed to help with magical transportation and Humans learned to co-exist with all beings.   Despite all hardships and challenges, a new world of unity and harmony came with it. Humanity had community like never before, environmental restoration, the fostering of a true unified planet, and many other good things came that had been absent.   And it was good. Hope renewed.
