Unification Day

"The people shall celebrate the unification of The Kingdom every year on the twenty-second day of the eighth month." ~Royal Decree of 4457

History

Unification Day is a state holiday in Ancaepya. Every major city, and most towns and smaller settlements, holds a large celebration to honour it.
The holiday was first implemented kingdom-wide in 4457 but celebrations had been held in Wickaryn ever since the first anniversary of House Danothes' conquest. A large fair was organized and the markets stayed open all night, selling trinkets, snacks, and alcohol. The Royal Palace hosted a large banquet for the local nobility and a tourney was always organized.
After 4457 every major house was required to put on a feast for their nobility and a fair for the common people on the 22nd day of the 8th month. At first, these were mere formalities, but the celebration soon became one of the biggest holidays of the year, surpassed only by the New Years' celebration and Arrival Day.
On the 500th anniversary of the Kingdom's existence, a massive fortnight-long celebration was held in Wickaryn and all the larger cities also celebrated extravagantly. Nearly every smaller settlement also organized a fair of some sort, however one such fair, in the Village of Hurfield, was cut short by an undead invasion. Luckily a few adventurers had been taking part in the festivities and they saved the locals and later defeated the Necromancer who had raised the undead.
