Session XXI
General Summary
The party disrupts the Electoral Debate in Carasus.
Missions/Quests Completed
After Rabbadon's antics the night before, the priest decided he would postpone his hearing for another day and leave him stranded in his stone prison. He spoke with the rest of the party, letting them know the time of the Debate and promising to perform a ritual that would send them to Bahamut's palace the following morning.
The party had different ideas on how to spend their free time in Carasus. Nurpus decided to hunt, making a deal with a local butcher to supply him with venison and other meat. He rode his pteranodon into the hills and forests north of Carasus and brought back some meat, making a pretty penny off his labour. He also visited a local poisoner in order to learn more about his frog poison.
Gertrude met up with her new friend, the philosopher Stratios, who vehemently opposes democracy. She and Stratios' other followers decided to pelt the debaters with animal manure and so they made their way into the amphitheater where it would be held. One of Stratios' followers was stopped by the guards, who were on the lookout for the troublemakers, as Stratios is quite infamous in Carasus. Gertrude, however, managed to talk the guards out of locking him up, convincing them she was his grandmother. They successfully snuck into the amphitheater and prepared themselves for the Debate.
Maple, having heard of Gertrude's plans, decided it would be funny if she watched and maybe assisted in her own way. She settled herself atop one of the amphitheater's pillars and communed with some seagulls, convincing them to excrete atop the debaters when they arrived.
The shit soon, quite literally, hit the fan, and the debaters were first shat on from the sky and then pelted with foul-smelling feces by Stratios, Gertrude, and the rest of their gang. The guards started chasing them, but they managed to run away unharmed and free. Gertrude then followed Stratios home, where they began drinking and feasting to celebrate their successful political action.
Night was falling and the city was in chaos, with some citizens applauding the insurrectionists' actions and others condemning them. The city guard was also in hot pursuit, as they suspected Stratios was behind the assault. Nurpus, noticing the commotion and hearing about what happened from the butcher, made his way into a guard station, where he was hired by a captain of the guard to help them find Stratios. He made his way into the slums, where Stratios was said to reside and talked an innkeeper into giving him the philosopher's location. Maple, meanwhile, was trying to find her friends, so she flew high above the town trying to spot Nurpus' mount. They both converged at Stratios' house, knocking on the door only to find their friend, Gertrude, carousing with the man. They were invited inside and joined in on the celebration, with Nurpus hatching a plan to still get some of the reward without betraying this nice fellow.
