Session XX
General Summary
The party gets into some trouble at the temple of Bahamut in Carasus.
Missions/Quests Completed
The party arrived in the city of Carasus with clear goals and a plan. First, they would visit the healer, Eudokia, that Hippokledes had told them about, and de-petrify their newest companion, Rabbadon the Many-Titled. They successfully sought her out and discussed a price for bringing their companion back. Since they didn't have enough gold, she asked them to go to the house of Pittacus, a politician competing in the council elections, and find something there to discredit him so he wouldn't win.
The party then split up, with a couple going to scout out Pittacus' house, and Gertrude finding herself deep in conversation with a local philosopher who strongly opposes democracy and who invited her to throw feces at the candidates during the debate the following day. They then reconvened and forged a plan to break into the house at night.
When Rabbadon was de-petrified, however, he produced the appropriate amount of gold and they didn't have to break into the house any longer. The party instead decided to visit the Temple of Bahamut on the hill overlooking the city. It is a grand structure, but it was closed for the day by the time they arrived. They asked if they could speak to the Grand Priest of the temple, but an acolyte told them he was busy blessing the election candidates before tomorrow's debate.
The party had different ideas on how to approach this. The Goblin and the Pixie snuck in through a back window using their magic and began spying on the ritual taking place inside, finding the candidates stark naked being anointed with oils by the Grand Priest. Rabbadon, however, decided brute force was the way in. He killed an acolyte and fed on his life force, before blasting his way through the front door with magic, the acolyte now under his control as a walking corpse along with a swarm of insects. The alarm had been raised by this point, so the rest of the party hid. The Warforged Lich marched inside and caught the Grand Priest and the candidates running away seemingly all alone. He confronted and fought them, but they proved to be stronger than they looked and his companions who had previously snuck inside decided to help them, incapacitating Rabbadon and encasing him in a stone prison.
The Grand Priest then spoke to the two and later the rest of the party, hearing their request for an audience with Bahamut himself and deciding to help them. He also told them the Yuan-Ti were present in this world too and that they had tried to attack the Enedeian Archipelago before, but were repelled at the Hot Gates. They were given a meal and a place to sleep and invited to the Debate tomorrow, with a court hearing scheduled for Rabbadon in the morning.
