Peran Dowrick

Peran has short messy reddish-blonde hair and a full beard the same color. His eyes are grey and squinty and he has prominent cheekbones and a nose slightly too big for his face.

Peran was born a year after his older brother Arthur. They were raised in a village north of the town of Loughdorn, in the foothills of the Anwin Peaks. Growing up the sons of a cattle herder, the brothers lived a calm and boring childhood. At one point though, herding cattle wasn't enough for them.
Peran had always had a fascination with magic, and after his brother left to be a squire for a hedge knight who had passed through the village he couldn't stay and grow old with their parents. He travelled alone, all the way to Baymore to study at the finest university in the world. Unfortunately for him the tuition was orders of magnitude more than he could afford, and so he was stuck, a fifteen year old boy, in an unknown city with not a penny to call his own.
He worked odd jobs, from helping at the docks to sweeping the streets and running errands for merchants, all the while determined to become a wizard. He taught himself to read and became a clerk at a local library, reading books on magic in his spare time. By the age of twenty he had mastered a couple simple cantrips all on his own and a professor from the university, who frequented the private library, began noticing the talent in Peran. He offered to tutor him and suddenly fortunes had changed for the young man. He learned swiftly and became more than adept at magic very soon.
After completing his apprenticeship with the professor Peran decided to travel the world, and as luck would have it he ran into his older brother within the year. Arthur had founded a mercenary company, the Thunderguard, but was having some issues with funds and finding good contracts. The brothers joined forces and became co-captains of the company. The combination of Peran's intellect and learnedness and Arthur's battlefield experience and knight's training soon made the Thunderguard into a successful business venture and the two brothers have travelled together ever since.
