Founding of the first Kingdom in Órlekanú

In current day Gaenel and Erala Rúa there were two large tribes, the Kajara and the Gaernjo. The Kajara came from the south east of Gaenel, high in the mountains. They believed in the power of blood magic, often making their prisoners sacrifices for their rituals. Their fresh bodies were left in the mountains for the dark creatures the Kajara called "datharm" or demons to consume, hoping to ensure their own survival.   The Gaernjo came from northern Gaenel and along the coast of Erala Rúa. They believed in the ten gods of Ahnadhus. The land in the north was of poor quality for hunting and growing food so over time they gradually spread southward, coming into conflict with the Kajara. This ignited a bloody war which would last for decades as the two tribes fought for land and resources. The Kajara were fearsome warriors, used to dealing with difficult terrain and wielding heavy weapons. The Gaernjo had numbers on their side however and eventually they were able to push back the Kajara to there few remaining stronholds in the mountains. The land north of the mountains was claimed and named Gaenel.   Since the warring ended, the people began building villages, spaced out across the land instead of huddled together for protection. More food could be grown as there was more availible space and crops were no longer being burnt. This lead to a sudden population increase as more children were surviving to adulthood. Writing became more widespread as it had previously been used only by priests and priestesses of Ahnadhus.   As the villages of the land became more connected by roads, a leader was needed to give direction to the people and to prevent a decent into anarchy. The son of the previous leader of the Gaernjo was chosen as the first Kernta of Gaenel. Over the following decades the title evolved to the higher status of Kerv once the population had grown enough to become a kingdom, independent of the old Gaernjo tribes still on Erala Rúa.
