Lonsland

Originally an island, but now more of a plateau with very sandy edges. Some of the rivers from the original island seem to have dried up, but one did somehow lengthen and create what is now a popular waterfall and lake for the area. There are also the lakes.

The entire existence of this area was a localized phenomena. An island fell, from the skies, and somehow still had living creatures on it. Enough to cause changes in not only the local area, but the planet itself.

The drop caused an introduction of several animal species to the planet, on top of the human reintroduction. Popular mentions are the chipmunk, the deer, and some bears that escaped from a zoo.

Fish that were caught before the rivers dried up are also now being purposely bred here in the lakes.

A couple hundred years ago, something extraordinary happened. A 100 mile long island dropped from the skies. Creating the area now known as Lonsland.

By some miracle, it landed in a place not all that populated, so the death toll was smaller than one would expect from something so... bizarre.

Even more bizarre, the island drop actually caused a growth in the planet's population. You see, this island came with life on it. A species of such that had been extinct for so long, they were thought a myth. Suddenly, humans were on the menu of the world again.

Eventually, the new humans would begin to move beyond the area and native species would move in, but no one could ever forget that this was the location of the second birth of humans onto the planet. No one could ever forget that an island fell out of the sky.
