Vrick

Basic Information

Anatomy

So at first you think its a dog, right? In a pack, howeling, runs like a dog, but no. Apperence-wise, the most obvious difference is the tough scales that run down their lower legs. These 'socks' protect the creature from the thorny bushes that infest its native habitat. The Bushlands are perpetualy windy, so the Vricks have thick fur that serves as a sheild from the wind, the brambles, and attacks from their more compitent victims. Cat like eyes. I saw an old one once who'd lost most of its fur. Turns out the fur hides an emancipated figure, it looks like a plucked chicken under there. Fur is grey and matches the rocky terrain.

Genetics and Reproduction

I normaly almost get killed by these things, but I stumbled upon a den once, even the babies are ugly. They seem to reproduce like normal dogs.

Growth Rate & Stages

Needs further investigation, but Vrick's development seems to be fairly straightforward.

Ecology and Habitats

I've only seen Vricks in the Bushlands and thank goodness. They are ruthless and hungry and perfectly adapted to terrorize the Bushlands. They live in overhangs and caves that are common in the area's rocky terrein. In the mornings and evenings they prowl for miles in search of meat.

Dietary Needs and Habits

From what I can tell, they eat the Thornlivers, and anything else they can find. That means travelers. That means rival packs. They've been known to attack people and animals in neighboring habitats as well.

Behaviour

Vricks are evil. I don't say that about a lot of creatures but Vricks are downright malevolent. They hunt you, they toy with you, they watch you despair, and they draw out their attack to cause maximum pain. They even the sick or weak in their own packs, I've seen the bones. Vricks are pack animals, but their packs are brutal hierarchies of malice. I spied on a den for a few days under the protection of a Bush Storm, and they bully their children as well. I have very little sympathy for the creatures.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Scary eyesight, hearing and sense of smell. These guys will track you down. Whats worse is they move unnervingly fast, whatever speed you think they go, they'll go twice as fast.
