Talisan God of Trickery (tal - eh - sen)
Talisan, He Who Whispers, Maestro of Mischief, the Mad Cackler, the One Who Sees All, is the God of Trickery. Symbolized by a five-pointed star with curved points. He represents illusion, arcane power, trickery, and shadow
Overview
This god is the most unknown and therefore pinning downy any element of truth about him is shrouded in mystery, just as he would want it. For every story involving the Mad Lord of a great deed and kindness, there is another story of an act of cruel ironic punishment. The stories that are passed down tells of giving passers by a fortune of wealth in exchange for a joke. Other accounts tell of locking people in another dimension and being forced to dance for years only to return the same age as they were taken
Followers
He is not openly worshiped because he is not widely known. The common story is that he is a myth or fable that doesn't actually exist. However, there are many who do believe and worship in secret such as users of the arcane, thieves guilds, and any person who would belong in an insane asylum today. But did the insanity come before or after the worship?
Omen
Considering that the Master of Tricks devotees are primarily vagabonds, outcasts, or other various reprobates, it is unknown exactly when or if he is around at all as someone who claims to worship him is usually regarded as untrustworthy. Some will preach of his absence and the dark times that will soon follow, telling mad tales of plants, statues, the wrinkles in their skin forming mouths and speaking to them. Others will claim they've seen animals perform an interpretive dance that signifies his leaving and what will soon follow. Some of these seers may warn you that the time for truths will follow, that everyone around you will speak truly. The secrets from spouses escaping their lips, corrupt figureheads coming to light, hidden passions, dastardly deeds all to be revealed. However, most events that could fall under this category could also be explained by people finally coming clean through guilt, being found out, or summoning the courage to admit their feelings to the person they've been sweet on
Return
Because everything about Talisan is shrouded in mystery, speculation, and his existence is considered to be that of a boogeyman, it's not clear when he hypothetically leaves his domain or returns. Those that worship the prankster god will also tell tales of his return, that he would personally visit them one day and whisk them away to another plane of existence. The claim is that they were brought to a celebration where they could feast, drink, socialize with all other worshippers together in a month of merriment full of festivals, games, and performances. Divination magics into these individuals' minds yield no results of truth. However, some have taken it upon themselves to travel and meet with self-proclaimed followers to interview and chronicle them. Many of them share strikingly similar details, recollections, and even names. The most jarring detail of all is that despite some individuals being on the opposite side of Amphalia, they all gave the same date for the night they were taken and the morning after when they returned
