Sethcur God of the Desert (seth - eh - cur)
Prince Sethcur, the Serpent of Silver, the Sire of Sand, the Lost Bane, is the God of the Desert. Symbolized by mirrored crescent moons, there is also a strong connection with Sethcur and Silver and the moon. He is one of the few gods that was given his domain instead of him taking it for himself, the desert
Overview
His alignment is Chaotic Neutral. He blesses the ones inside the cities of his domain but can often be cruel to those lost in the desert and the unaware. It's not that he's wrathful, he demands respect for his domain and all the blessings he bestows. Cities are built around large swaths of special sand that have silver filaments mixed within, these are considered holy sites
He cares for his land and his people; outsiders are not his concern
Followers
Naturally, Sethcur's followers encompasses most of the tabaxian culture who predominantly make their homelands in the desert. Even when the Tabaxi make the rare pilgrimage to another nation they tend to bring an idol and a pouch of silver sand with them to continue worshiping him. Other than the Tabaxi, any sentient desert dwelling entity that doesn't already see itself as a god will also worship him. Another common thing for his worshipers to do is to stylize their hair in dreadlocks and interlock them with snake bones
Omen
When the Silver Serpent takes a pilgrimage away from the desert and leaves his domain, the sands will change. There will be an omen, a warning of his soon departure noticeable by many but its meaning is decipherable by few. The sands of the desert that normally contains silver imbedded within fades, disappears, removes itself on the wind. What follows is referred to as "The Hunger of Sand" which is a rough translation from the Tabaxi culture. During this indefinite time, a phenomenon occurs across the desert in which the constancy of the sand becomes that of a fine ash
This makes traversing the desert difficult and nearly stops trade through it. As opposed to a foot or wagon wheel falling a couple of inches at most through the sand, it feels looser, and one's foot will sink anywhere from 1-2 feet. It will feel as if you have to wade through it instead, animals that burrow will have a harder time emerging, and it's even known to suffocate those that fall and cannot bring themselves back up
Return
When Sethcur returns to his homeland, he makes sure that all of his people receive the sign. Not only does the sand return to its natural consistency but the silver returns to it as well. For all of his faithful that are traveling or on a pilgrimage, he makes the moon full regardless of what stage it was at the night before. For those that have not found new lives for themselves outside the desert, this is a sign to return. They will consider it their duty to return to their homelands before the next full moon. During which, the five great cities of the desert will be awash with its silver light, the people will have a weeklong halt to production, work, and trade. It will be a time for rest, time with family, and a communal prayer during the night at their sacred sites, of which the cities are built around
