Azerus god of Lightning (Aa - zur - es)
Champion Azures, the storm born, the eternal champion, the thunderous pugilist, is a demi-god with the domain of lightning. Symbolized by a fist with brass knuckles. He represents fighting, honor, and the strength of will
Overview
He is a chaotic good being. He wants his followers to fight in his name and gain glory for themselves, he sees fleeing from a fight as the ultimate disgrace. Dying on the battlefield in suicidal odds isn't expected of his followers but if fighting against an ocean of enemies meant giving your allies or the innocents even one extra moment of time to escape is a glorious honor for any warrior. There are tales of him sending an avatar of himself to aid those in such moments
Azures was spawned from a storm when Vavarohk and Kord clashed in a mighty battle. Born from a lightning bolt hitting the ground and manifesting itself into another being. He joined the fighting without hesitation. He did not win this battle but he also did not fall, retreat, and he brought the two gods to a standstill where they all parted ways. Many warriors from the other gods heard of this encounter and left their orders to find and follow him
Followers
The followers of Azures are less like priests and more like fighters. His temples assume the role as many arenas for the city that they occupy. Being that of a lesser god, he is less known, less worshiped, and has less strength. This does not bother him; he sees himself as an underdog with everything to prove. Azures wants to be seen as an imposing force of both nature and will. He wants his followers to bring honor to themselves and his name
Those that frequent his temples or arenas will often wrap their hands in a red cloth, fabric, or use brass knuckles as their primary weapon
Omen
Every fighter must rest. When the lightning champion is injured and must take a leave from the arena to recuperate, there will be an omen. The location of the sign is not pre-determined. In the past, several arenas that serve as temples to Azerus have reported the same phenomenon in the same time period despite being in different parts of the world. A storm of dark clouds will appear; bursts of lightning will flash through the storm but never striking the earth and no sounds or reverberations of thunder will be detected, as if the lightning has become hollow. What follows next is a faulter of will upon mankind. Gladiators that have faced hundreds of battles prior are more likely to be tentative with their next bought. Hesitant to fight, fearful for their lives, some even choosing to bow out altogether instead
Return
When Azerus returns from his rest and is ready for the next round, he likes to let the whole pantheon know. On a moonless night when the skies are clear. The land will suddenly be erupted with light without warning as lightning will strike a mountaintop ten times in quick succession. The impacts will shake the earth so tremendously that any nearby settlements will feal its force. The cracking lightning sounds like a mighty war cry and the following roar of thunder sounds like applause from a crowd. The Monks and Fighters of Azerus will rise with their lightning-born god and celebrate wherever they can be found by holding contests, games, and events of might within their communities
