Amara Goddess of Life (uh - mar - uh)
Amara the Mother-Dawn, the Bright Horizon, the Ever Bright, is the god of life represented by the sun. She represents family bonding, rebirth, prosperity, and good health
Overview
She is one of the most common deities that are accepted in most company. Considering her nature and what she represents she has amassed the most followers and accrued the most temples
Unlike many gods, she genuinely cares about mortal life and wants to help in the limited ways that she can. Because of this though, she's also spread thin and uses up much of her ability on others which means she's far from the most powerful. This does not mean that she is not powerful in her own right. She is described as being as powerful as the sun and as vengeful as the dawn
Followers
Amara is a Lawful Good entity and would never try to manipulate or make deals with mortals to get them to do what she wants. Typically, her followers love her as much as she loves them and will follow any summon. What she lacks in power and fear mongering, she makes up in true devotion by her followers. Followers of Amara are expected to marry and have large families with several children if they are able. The truly devoted will perform a ritual of sorts, they will make a template out of cloth, metal, or anything they choose to and travel somewhere high up like a mountaintop or somewhere open with lots of direct sunlight. They will lay their template somewhere on their body of their choice and they will lay there until the sun leaves a permeant sun-scorched mark on their body
She despises those that force their will onto others and believes that no soul is irredeemable
Omen
When the Mother-Dawn is absent from the light, there will be an omen. Signaled by a solar eclipse that lasts for two days. Her devout are never sure exactly what has happened to their ever-light or the events that will follow after. Although the sun does return after the eclipse, it's as if its warmth is dulled and it's as if there is less color in the world. When her love is absent, her followers refer to the time as "The Gray". What typically follows is ill fortune upon households with families. Mother's will frequent stillbirth at much higher rates, household hearths will seem colder, disputes, anger, divorce, are all very common for these times. Her Clerics, if available, will take it upon themselves to visit expecting mothers and offer as much aid as they can. Paladins or priests will frequent known followers' households to check in on the families and offer guidance and urge them to stay strong and together as a unit
Return
When Amara returns to her domain and the sun in the sky, she will announce it with a grand spectacle. During twilight the air will grow still, the animals will silence themselves, and as the sun rises its divine heat will wash over the land like a comforting blanket. Some swear that there will be a soothing hum drifting through the early morning air. It will feel as though the sun will cling to the center of the sky for longer on that day as well. The temples of Amara will rejoice, it's walls will seem to reflect with pure light and to mark the return of their mother-light. The followers upon hearing word or sensing the return will host banquets and seek to invite as many as they can within their cities and villages to bring everyone together
