Kythnos
Kythnos is a small town found along the eastern coast of the Kallowa Desert. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. This is a safe haven for the pirates and privateers who make their living along the coast. The lawless nature of the inhabitants is at odds with how organized the violence inside is, make no mistake wayward traveler, you must be cautious - but here you are more likely to find yourself challenged to a duel than be confronted with out right violence. Places of wealth tend to temper violence.
The city itself stinks of fish and of the throngs of people. The population is generally divided into two types, those who man ships and those who command ships. As one would expect, the upper class of the ships live an upper class of life in Kythnos, gambling well, sleeping well, and dining well. In the slums the buildings become more dilapidated and more rambunctious and, as some have reported, more enjoyable. This could be the report of men who'd lived the last 10 months aboard a frigate.
The markets are full of people selling dried good to be taken into the interior, sailors looking for new ships, and ships looking to sell something where documentation of ownership is not expected. This is not the largest port along the coast, but this is the place where the largest amount of stolen goods change hands.
The town is defined by two towers that look across the city at one another. The rumour is that the two ruling lords of the city face each other neither leaving their respective towers because they have both been responsible for the deaths of the other's eldest son.
Government
Run by two pirate kings who once were partners and now hate each other. The city is in a perpetual state of stalemate and has been for nearly 25 years.
Industry & Trade
Known for it's sale of dried goods and the rather illustrious black market. There is also the normal amounts of gambling, prostitution, and extortion. Money comes into Kythnos, but seldom leaves.
