Winter Claw Mountains

The mighty and foreboding mountains which separate The Radiant Empire and The Second Kingdom of Thera. They are nearly inhospitable, with very few relatively peaceful plateaus scattered about.

These great mountains are amongst the highest in the world. The treacherous mountains are almost perpetually under ice and snow. Chilling and blasting winds constantly rip through the deep ravines and chasms of the mountains. These mountains stretch nearly coast to coast and create a formidable natural border between the Radiant Empire and the Second Kingdom of Thera. Flat plateaus are also sporadically placed along the range as well. These are sometimes used as way stations by adventurous or suicidal caravans. There are often passes or cave systems that link to these plateaus.

Ecosystem

The mountains are extremely harsh and only the hardiest of creatures make their homes here. The majority of fauna make refuge in the deep, but calm, mountain passes. Yak, mountain goat, and pigmy mammoths forage the plateaus and caves for the grasses and lichen. Meanwhile, voracious yetis, giants, and dragons hunt for anything warm with blood.

Ecosystem Cycles

The summer months reveal more accessible passes which various creatures and sapients use for traversal. In the winter seasons, life is nearly inhospitable.
