One of the oldest sapient races, elves are known for their natural agility and magical prowess.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Elves are humanoids and, as such, follow the same morphological pattern as humans. However, elves have longer, slimmer heads, and a thin bone structure which leads to their wispier appearance when compared to most other sapients. They are universally graceful, making their movements smooth and elegant.
Biological Traits
The most unique biological trait of the elves is their lack of requirement for sleep (as other races would know it) Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, they can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Genetics and Reproduction
Elves produce relatively slowly, reaching sexual maturity at twenty years, but rarely producing a child until their forties. Pregnancy lasts ten months and produces a single child. However, in rare circumstances twins may also result.
Growth Rate & Stages
An elven child can move, speak, and eat on its own by the age of two. They reach sexual maturity at around twenty years of age and become independent by their mid-twenties.

Ecology and Habitats
Elves are capable of surviving in most environments but tend to prefer the humid climates and mountainous rainforests of The Sunset Isle.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Elves have a smaller diet than most other sapients. A small farm of vegetables, herbs, and minor livestock can easily support a single family. Larger communities often supplement their diets with vast public gardens which often produce more than required.
Elves who travel outside of The Sunset Isle do note that their appetites grow considerably the longer they are away.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Elves are most closely concentrated in The Sunset Isle. However, communities exist across the continent. Strangely, large ruins that bear elven design are scattered across all corners of the continent, but yet, no one is quite sure how they came about...
Average Intelligence
Elve's intelligence tends to be considered relatively average among the sapients, with the exception being the [High Elves, who are just a sliver sharper than other elves.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Elves boast fantastic perceptive abilities. They are capable of seeing clearly without light up to a reasonable distance, and their long ears can hear faint whispers as though they were spoken clearly and directly to them.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
The only unified elven nation is the Sunset Confederacy, which is one of the longest surviving states in the world. A short lived but infamous mercenary crew known as the Crescent Sun Company was notably an all elven band.
