2024 Summer Camp Prep

Week One:

Assignment One:

My many goal for this years summer camp is to focus on the culture of my world. I have a lot of different races in my world and I want to flesh them all out and show them living their lives. I also want to update my world to current times and events in which my players are expirencing. They have changed a lot in the past year since I started using World Anvil and big things are happening in the world right now.

Assignment Two:

I really don't know how many prompts I will fill out this year. I would like to do at least 8 but we shall see. Being a mom doesn't leave me a lot of time to be creative. I will say though the summer camp promts help me get inspired and want to write more than the other challenges I've seen World Anvil do and I hope they do more like this in the future.

Assignment Three:

I will be honest, I don't use the tags at all. I don't use tags on other social media sites either. I don't really understand them and they just feel like using buzz words to lure people in. I'd rather just have people saying "You've got to read this new author I found!" then try to come up with the right tags to hunt people down. I'm very much a word of mouth person.
I have worked on breaking down the different catagories of my writing though and that has helped a lot with getting organized and staying focused.

Assignment Four:

I have no idea what the meta page is! I've read it multiple times and told myself that I need to fill it out. However, I don't understand what the purpose of it is or how I should be filling it out or what I put there. If anyone has any tips or a better way to explain in, I am all ears!

Week Two:

Assignment One:

This assignment is about refuge. The first thing I think of is The Temple of Cord and Illyara. These are two places in my world that I have started working on and writing about but there is so much more I can do.

Assignment Two:

My accountability buddy is my husband and best friend. They both enjoy reading my work and my bestie will be on my butt about my writing. She's the best!

Assignment Three:

I'm not going to lie, I'm dreading this one because I really want a complete timeline on my world front page. It's so much work and I don't know if I have the motivation right now but I do want to finish it before the summer camp is over. I could probably clean some things up on my page as well.

Assignment Four:

I do not do CSS at all. I do not understanding coding at all. My husband has tried to help me with it and I cannot understand it. So when it comes to that stuff I just tell him what I want and hand him my tablet. That's as far as I'm willing to go lol.

Week Three:

Assignment One:

I'm excited for this one! I have been wanting to cover the pantheon of my world, both Godly and Demonic. So I will be working on writing little templates of these articles. Now I need to decide if each one gets their own article or if I should group all the Gods and all the Demon Gods in two articles. I'll probably do the second option.

Assignment Two:

I have been listening to Vinny Marchi on Spotify for inspiration. He is very dnd bard vibes and really helps me get in the mindset to be creative and makes me want to dive into my high fantasy world. I'm very big on music and it has always been important for me. I need music for all aspects of life.

Assignment Three:

I had been using an AI genorater to make my pictures for my articles but I stopped using the one I had because it doesn't do fantasy very well. My struggle is getting an AI to make me pictures of any other skin color other than white, and making high fantasy creatures like elves, dragons, dragonborne, ect... It's very annoying that I can't make a blue person at all and I can't make a black person without them looking either deformed or cartoonish. Just goes to show that even AI is racist and it's sad and frustrating. I do want to use a map generator to start making city maps. I especially want to make a map of White Bridge cause I struggle to describe what I see in my head.

Assignment Four:

I think my inspirations are still good for me but I am always looking for more!

Week Four:

Assignment One:

This assignment about decay is perfect for my world. I have the Wastes, The Temple of Souls, and like four or five ancient ruins on the main continent alone and I have even started working on the other continents yet. I have a lot I can write about with this topic.

Assignment Two:

Ugh fine I'll clean off my desk! How did Workd Anvil know I've been telling myself for three weeks that i need to clean it and have just been ignoring that whole part of my house? I did clean off the lounge chair in my room that I like to sit and write in though so go me!

Assignment Three:

I am going to use the tip blog post with this assignment for cleaning up my homepage. I kind of see my homepage here as advertising for me and my writing and I suck at selling myself so bad. It makes me very uncomfortable to "sell" myself or stuff I do. Like I want to sell my paintings and I haven't yet because I can't get over the selling part. It makes me so uncomfortable. And I know, it's not healthy and probably says a lot about me but meh lol.

Assignment Four:

Ugh same as the last one. My world isn't that old but I think I'm going to look at some other author pages and see what other people put on there for ideas. I have done much for mine because I just get so stumped on what to write there. But I'll get the hang of it eventually. I'm looking forward to this years' summer camp and I'm going to try to write more articles than I did last year!
