Rod ar Fortun (The Wheel of Fortune)
An apparatus made of eight bells attached to a wagon wheel. When a rope is pulled, the wheel spins, ringing the bells. These are typically found in churches, but can also be found in castles, stately homes and ships. Rod ar Fortun are commonly used to make the passing of a chime, or when a church lacks bells of the Hours. Materials used in the construction of these devices varies depending upon the resources of the owner. In Letha, a popular gamble is to bet (2 Sous) on where the bell stops. If the wheel jams, it is a symbol of ill-omen.
