Handbow

Handbows come in a variety of different configurations, with three primary variants.
  • Light Crossbow - A small variant of a traditional crossbow. It is the largest of the handbows, with the limbs and barrel locked into a cruciform configuration. It's trigger is horizontal to the barrel and can be fired one handed.
  • Springbow - An ingenious device, it can be stored in a roughly rectangular shape, the limbs on hinges and springs, secured to the sides of the barrel. These typically have a handle perpendicular to the barrel, with the trigger located at the point where the handle and the barrel join. When drawn, the limbs spring out and a clockwork winch hidden in the barrel automatically draws and primes the string. It can be reprimed by hand or by auto-winch after use.
  • Wristbow - A wrist mounted springbow. It has the weakest range and power of the bows, but is compact and concealable. It must be drawn by hand after initial priming, although some prototypes exist allowing clockwork redrawing or multiple flechettes on a rotating barrel.
