The University of Magical Learning
The University of Magical Learning (UML) is situated in Raven's Gate, the north-eastern state. The UML is the centre for all magical learning in the land. It is guided and presided over by the Mage-Duke of Raven's Gate, who inherits the title of Principal Mage.
The UML is currently rebelling against the laws put down by the Crown saying that mages must register and agree to be watched and have their families watched, otherwise their magic will be taken away from them in a ritual only the Crown knows about.
Structure
Principal Mage AKA Mage-Duke of Raven's Gate
Masters (Studied intensively for 5+ years. Can teach. Must have taken on 3+ apprentices.)
Mages/Magicians (Finished apprenticeship. Mages of 1+ year/s can take upon apprentices)
Apprentices (Studies one element of magic, e.g. telepathy, fire, battle, ice, telekinesis etc under one particular Mage. Ends apprenticeship after they have passed the Magic Challenge.)
Novices (Learns the basics of magic)
Hopeful (Those wishing to become a mage are called Hopefuls. They must take a test of magic ability in order to be allowed to learn.)

The most obvious is magic. Magic is very useful.
They also have the full support of the Mage-Duke, and of the people of the state Raven's Gate.
History
In 100 AWC the Duke Jian Xui changed her title to Mage-Duke, and created the rules surrounding that.
