Mage-Duke of Raven's Gate
For as long as can be remembered, Raven's Gate has been the centre for magical learning in Altheia. This tradition has been continuing for thousands of years. The first Mage-Duke was Jian Xui, who changed her title from Duke to Mage-Duke in the year 100 AWC (Altheia Was Created, same timeline as AD).
The new Mage-Duke is elected from the University of Magical Learning by the people when the old one dies or retires. They instantly become the Principal Mage of the Univeristy of Magical Learning (UML).
Qualifications
They must be above an apprentice in the University of Magical Learning, and have no criminal record.
Appointment
The people must vote the Mage-Duke into office, and a member of the royal family must preclaim that that person has the Crown's trust to manage the state of Raven's Gate.
Responsibilities
The Mage-Duke must manage the state of Raven's Gate, reporting directly to the King and Queen, and look after and tutor students in the University of Magical Learning. They also have to sit on the Noble's Council.
Benefits
The Mage-Duke is instantly made a noble, no matter where they came from before. They have to sit on the Noble's Council and make decisions that benefit their state.
Accoutrements & Equipment
They recieve the Mage's Robes, the honourary oufit of the Principal Mage of the University of Magical Learning.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
They cannot be dismissed unless they are too physically unwell, too mentally unwell, or accused of a serious crime such as murder or treason.

Length of Term
The minimum length of term is 5 years, unless there is exenuating circumstances, such as illness, sudden madness, or death of the Mage-Duke.
