Amaranthine Ocean

The easternmost sea in Verth is a forsaken place, the Amaranthine Typhoon stretches across the east horizon from north to south and none who sail into it ever return. Trade is nonexistent in this sea save for one route from Silvania to Khandhazar. Sailors avoid this sea at all costs due to its violent currents and ever-drawing pull which forces inexperienced sailors straight into the fury of the storm. Valeria utilizes the ocean for its own means, having constructed a dreadful prison on a shred of rock just on the outer reaches of the sea. Impellus Prison is the fate of all criminals in Valeria and even other countries who send their worst criminals there while doing the Empire favors in return. Escape is impossible save for a one way trip to the Coliseum of Valeria or a trip to the Alchemist Society where the condemned are never heard from again. Swimming is not a possibility, even on the outskirts of the typhoon as even at that distance the storm draws the misfortunate into its inescapable grasp.
