Ormen

Called Banqu by the Duvik   Ormen, a city-state in the southern delta of Alterran, is both a hub of commerce and a cradle of human civilization. Founded by the Essil, the first humans in Alterran that did not come by way of New Babylon, Ormen became the birthplace of the Imari and Mibari, who ventured into the surrounding deserts.   Over time, Ormen grew into a powerful and independent city through strategic trade and diplomacy, avoiding conquest by larger kingdoms. Its location at the convergence of rivers made it a vital trading center, with canals that serve both practical and defensive purposes. The city's culture is now shaped by pragmatism and a deep understanding of the value of wealth, reflected in the saying, "All money is blood money."   Today, Ormen faces increasing pressure as the Kingdom of Chernaya extends its influence, threatening its autonomy. The city's leaders continue to balance diplomacy and defense, striving to maintain Ormen's independence in a rapidly changing world. As a symbol of resilience and cunning, Ormen remains a key player in the southern regions of Alterran, its future uncertain but its legacy enduring.
