The Academy
The Academy is the first step of a sorcerer's education and it functions as a boarding school with a nursery attached. A Novice is chosen by the Council of Elders who seek out chidlren who have a particular strong Aura (the Aura shows how strong their magic has the potential to be) and then take them to the Academy to be educated and brought up in the ways of The Sorcerer's Guild. Most novices therefore loose contact with their birth parents, but there are exceptions. The exceptions are often noble children or children born to one or more parents who carry the Phoenix Feather, of the Sorcerer's Guild, who are sometimes allowed to be brought up by their parents as long as they keep some certain conditions that are decided by the Council of Elders. Children who have parents in The Sorcerer's Guild are however rare, as very few Sorcerer's choose to pursue romantic relationships and even fewer to have children.
The First Years in the Academy:
Most novices are brought to the Academy from the ages of 2-4 though many are brought in earlier and some first when they are around 5-6. Six years is however the last time when the Elders will choose to bring in children, as that is the year that the children start their education.
Until the age of six children will therefore live in the Nursery are of the Academy, which is split up into multiple different areas. Men and woman called Aunts and Uncles are those take care of the children, until the day they are ready to begin their official education.
