The council tower is the oldest of the extant towers in Vekirai. It is the second tallest of the Great Towers of Vekirai and widely recognised as the most striking.
The Tower of Blades was built to house the growing Vekirati military. The Elders had moved away from relying on noble families to field their own militias, instead instituting well-rewarded military service pay for by nobles looking the gain favour (and to protect their heirs from conscription).
The Tower of Justice is the largest tower by floor area although it is the fourth tallest. It was built to hold the high courts of the land.
The Treasury Tower was completed in 410BU. It is the third tallest of the Five Great Towers and houses a series of deep antechambers and vaults used to store money and treasure. It is also the location of the Vekirati Mint.
The Old Library is the tallest tower of Vekirai and house the writings of the elders, the later mages and more recently, the sages. The Old Library is widely recognised as the greatest compendium of knowledge in all the world.
The Great Plague of 329BU decimated the population of North-East M'dia. It produced weeping sores on its victims which leaked infectious plasma and spread by contact or contaminated water.
During the Great Plague, around 60% of the population of Vekirai had converted to the Pentarchist religion. The Irao family were wealthy merchants and the most influencial Pentarchists in the city. When Luria Gan Irao declared his claim as rightful King of Vekirai and Master of the Ports, he was all but unopposed; the three highest ranked admirals in the Vekirati Navy had already converted to Pentarchism and supported the Irao claim. The Irao kings ruled over Vekirai from 328 to 213BU.
The order was originally founded to advise the king and to help manage the administration of the City State of Vekirai which was an important port and had complex import and export regulations.
Two of the twelve Amalorian Tomes of Black Magic were stolen by the sage Soriev Invezia who hoped to use their power to start a rival empire of his own. After this event, the black tomes were moved to the Treasury Tower Vaults and kept there under constant guard.
