Divine Symbols & Sigils
The Joyful God is depicted as a middle aged man who is well-built and tall. He is most often depicted wearing a crown, smiling with his arms open welcoming all to his party. In some forms he wears armour and carries a spear as the god of the celebration of victory in war. Sometimes he is depicted at a banquet. As a god of the harvest, he is variously depicted holding wheat-sheaves or a sickle or scythe. As a father god, he is sometimes depicted with children. He is always dressed finely. His colour is gold.
The most famous shrines to the Joyful God are in Vekirai and in Vaitaret. In Vekirai, the Temple of the Five honours the Joyful God as the 'King of Heaven'. His statue is deliberately a likeness of the first King of Vekirai King Luria I. The statue is cut from marble and clothed in robes of real silk and with amulets are rings of jewels set in gold and silver. Hamat I commissioned the statue of his father shortly after the former's death partly to assuage suggestions of foul play surrounding King Luria's death and partly to establish his doctrine of the divine right of the Irao Dynasty.
The shrine of the Joyful God in Vaitaret is very different. The shrine in Vaitaret honours the Joyful God as 'The Great Commander' and 'The Protector'. He is depicted in statue standing tall in full armour with a spear in one hand and a shield in the other.
