Ice Giant
"Oh, great giant! Master of our souls. Bring your furious justice back to our land so that we may be strong once more."
The prayer of a Jurvani ship-master.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Ice giants are the largest and strongest sentient race in Alter with flat faces and relatively small facial features to preserve heat. They have thick white to brown fur which varies seasonally and protects them from the harsh cold of their Arctic habitat. Their eyes tend to be grey but can be blue or brown. They frequently have curved horns not unlike a goat.
They have strong plantigrade legs with 4 digits on each arms and each leg.
Ecology and Habitats
The Ice Giants are native to the frozen tundra and boreal forests of the continent north of M'dia. There is no confirmed record Ice Giants setting foot anywhere on the continent of M'dia although this is an important basis of the Jurvan religion.
The Ice Giants are omnivorous although they are mostly carnivorous. They mostly eat large ocean creatures and sometimes the Espirion who live on the southern coast of the continent. They also eat some plants including sea weeds and even the bark of trees.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivorous. There isn't much food in the cold north so they'll eat mostly anything.

Civilization and Culture
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
In traditional Jurvan religion, the Ice Giants are consider to be similar to demigods. They are thought to be the first children of the All Father and the Jurvan anticipate that the Ice Giants will eventually conquer the world, sparing only the true sons of the All Father.
Amongst many of the M'dian Espirion, the Ice Giants are considered to be purely mythological. There exist very few merchants who claim to have seen Ice Giants when trading with the Northern outposts. The small population of Espirion living on the Southern coast of the continent north of M'dia are the descendants of Jurvan zealots who have sailed north on religious quests on a number of occasions. Some of these arctic Espirion have retained they're religious zeal but many have abandoned their beliefs upon realising that the Ice Giants are not opposed to eating the occasional Espirion.
