The Heartwood
Deep inside the ancient dryad Ygdrassil is a structure called the Heartwood. Taking the form of a heart shaped from wood and tree branches, this structure not only serves as Ygdrassil's heart but acts as a powerful ward against Null magic, guarding Ygdrassil's grove against the wendigoes' evil.
Manifestation
The Heartwood contains Ygdrassil's daemon. Due to her compassionate nature, it is constantly overflowing with an abundance of Undifferentiated Anima. This magic not only illuminates the inside of her trunk, but keeps it warm even through the harshest winter.
Anyone who comes into Ygdrassil's chamber inside her trunk is exposed to the incredible power of the Heartwood. Those who stay for more than a few minutes begin to feel warm, caring, and pleasant, and any sickness they have begins to abate as well. If someone tries to touch or steal the Heartwood, they will be met with a massive shock, knocking them back. When they get up, they will be so full of warm feelings that they will usually forget what they came in there for and happily skip away, eager to share their joy with the world until the high wears off and they realize what happened. Admittedly, it's always kind of funny when this happens.
The Heartwood's abundance of Undifferentiated Anima makes it incredibly repulsive to wendigoes. In the War of the Wendigoes, Ygdrassil's grove became a sanctuary for refugees. The incredible power of the Heartwood kept wendigoes away, protecting the beings inside the grove.
If the Heartwood becomes depleted for whatever reason, Ygdrassil will become cold and despondent.

The Heartwood rests in the center of Ygdrassil's trunk, suspended over the raised platform in the center of the chamber. Its power and influence extend to the outer edge of Ygdrassil's grove, located in the northern part of the Emerald Woodland.
