Regrowth
Regrowth is the most basic and commonplace healing spell in Altairus. It is used in hospitals and at Ley Spas all across the world. Despite its simplicity and relative safety, however, it can still be dangerous if misused.
Effect
Regrowth is a healing spell. When it is used, it induces rapid recovery in the target by speeding up the natural healing process for any tissues or organs it comes into contact with. This includes organs that would not otherwise regenerate on their own, such as the brain and heart.
Given its mechanism, regrowth does not work for all afflictions. For instance, it is a terrible spell to use for healing cancer, as it only encourages the malignant cells to divide faster. With this in mind, regrowth does have a particularly horrific offensive use. If one is exposed to a strong blast of the spell for a long period of time, cells in all tissues of the body will multiply uncontrollably, erupting in rapidly-growing whole-body super cancer that quickly and painfully ends the victim's life.
It is no surprise that most Altairian governments deliver particularly harsh sentences to those who misuse the spell in this way.
Side/Secondary Effects
Because regrowth works by encouraging cell division, it increases the likelihood that cell mutation will occur. Normally, these mutations are invisible, but in some cases, they produce side effects that are either helpful or harmful. Beings exposed to a particularly powerful version of this spell may walk away with strange growths or abilities they did not have before. At worst, they can develop cancer from this spell.
Manifestation
Like many Earth spells, regrowth takes the form of a glowing forest-green light. This light can take the form of snaking tendrils or a solid beam depending on the spell's strength.
Regrowth requires no incantation. The user simply has to get touch with the Earth magic inside of them to cast the spell.
Beings that already have a strong connection to Earth magic have an easier time using this spell, though it is accessible to any being of any element.

Yeesh. I have a sick mind sometimes. Seriously. That thing about the super cancer sounds like something straight out of a Meatcanyon animation. This is what happens when you read too much body horror, boys and girls.
