Nursery Rhyme District

The Nursery Rhyme District is located on Pandora's east coast, in between the twin Sol and Luna rivers. This rustic community is perhaps the most historically visited and well-known amongst Earth-dwellers.

Demographics

Talking animals, as well as many other faery races of the Earth and Light elements, make their home in the Nursery Rhyme District. There aren't many magical beasts that reside in the woodlands and grasslands of the district, save for the occasional unicorn, but there is an abundance of woodland critters that make their homes there.

Government

The Nursery Rhyme District is a rather small community, so decisions are made by committee. Once every month or so, a town meeting is called at city hall, and decisions affecting the whole community are put to the vote.

Industry & Trade

The district's prime export is food, although it is certainly not the only or even the biggest bread basket in Altairus. All kinds of fruits, vegetables, and grains, as well as products from livestock such as beef, pork, chicken, milk, eggs, and wool come from the Nursery Rhyme District. Baking and cheesemaking are also common amongst its residents, so a good amount of bread and cheese comes from that area as well.

Infrastructure

The settlements scattered throughout the Nursery Rhyme District consist mainly of small cottages and big red barns. The talking animals in particular may live in these or they may live in caves, burrows, or inside trees.

Tourism

This district is well-known for being the most visited amongst Earth-dwellers during the Golden Era. Many of the nursery rhymes we hear today originated from humans who travelled to the Nursery Rhyme District through a portal and came back to write about what they had seen.

The Nursery Rhyme District is well-known for its fun-loving culture. The residents of this district may be hard workers, but they know how to party. Around the solstices and equinoxes the community holds modest but fun festivals where everyone contributes something, whether that be food, music, or otherwise.

Geography

The Nursery Rhyme District is part temperate forest and part grasslands.

Natural Resources

In addition to the resources generated from agriculture, the Nursery Rhyme district has an abundance of wood from trees. It is utilized conservatively; trees are mainly cut down to build new cottages and barns and to renovate the old ones. There is also an abundance of fish, both from the nearby rivers and from the coast.
