Mutamoph

Mutamoph, or Mother Dragon, is the female half of The Royal Beasts. She is considered the principle mother goddess in the duotheistic system of worship that most of Altairus acknowledges. She has domain over the Unseelie elements of Anima.

In artistic depictions, Mutamoph takes the form of a massive dragon with black and silver scales and blood-red eyes. Her right horn is snapped off at the base. Depending on the depiction, she may be portrayed as holding her broken horn as an improvised Horn of Plenty or surrounded by young faery children or animals.

Divine Domains

Mutamoph represents the divine feminine aspect. She is considered the mother of all beasts and faeries and the Queen of Altairus. Her form is taken from dragons, which are well-known throughout Altairus for their nurturing, protective nature towards their young.

She has domain over the Unseelie elements: Earth, Water, and Darkness. Her aspect is the strongest around the Winter Solstice.

In myth, Mutamoph is a loving, somewhat self-effacing, but fierce mother figure. She is commonly invoked for matters involving children, including fertility, childcare, and protection. She is also a prominent symbol for the harvest; many portrayals have her carrying her broken horn, which is filled to the brim with all sorts of autumnal fruits and grains. It is said that invoking her in the planting season ensures a fruitful harvest, and invoking her in the autumn ensures a plentiful year to come.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Mutamoph is represented on the right half of the Sigil of Altairus, as shown below:

She is placed near the Unseelie elements she has guardianship over.

Holidays

Since Mutamoph's power is said to be the strongest around the Winter Solstice, she is most commonly invoked then. Tributes are made to both her and Lümamoph, the half-dragon son she hatched on the Winter Solstice to restore the sun.

The Dawn of Spring heralds the start of Lament of the Dragon. Altairians pay respect to Mutamoph's fallen son by abstaining from their vices during the week.

Lastly, during the Autumnal Equinox and Summer's End, many pay tribute to Mutamoph to give thanks for her gifts and to ensure the next year will be bright and filled with happiness.
