Magic Severance

The mere name "magic severance" is enough to send terror into the hearts of anyone who has ever heard it spoken. Only the most experienced and trusted of magicians are allowed to even access the dark, forbidden corners of dojos containing the tomes in which this spell is written. For good reason; anyone who can successfully cast this spell has the power to sever another's connection to Anima... forever.

Effect

Magic severance's effect is in its title. When executed successfully, it permanently severs the target's connection to Anima in such a way that prevents them from ever using their magic again. While it is not deadly, it is considered by many to be a fate much, much worse.

Given how dire and permanent this is, magic severance is not a common spell, even in books that discuss forbidden and controversial magic. Very few are allowed to even read the instructions, and those willing to teach it are even fewer.

Manifestation

Magic severance uses Undifferentiated Anima. However, it does not have the spectral sheen of most Undifferentiated spells. Rather, it manifests as a harsh, unforgiving white, first around the spell conduit and then as a sharp blade of light.

When it strikes, it travels right through the target. While it does not damage the body, the target will feel it slice through their Daemon, splitting it from their inherent magic. Once this is done, the target can try and cast spells all they want, but nothing will happen. This is how one can tell the spell has been successfully cast.

Gestures & Ritual

This spell has two steps. The first is to charge up one's spell conduit with intent to cast the spell. The second is to make a swift sword-slashing motion towards the target. No verbal incantation is needed.
