Grimhide

Grimhide stands at the height of a redwood tree and is considerably more massive. He is estimated to weigh at least ten million pounds, if not more.

His scales are blackened from constant exposure to flame, and both the membranes of his wings and the spaces between his scales glow with Fire magic. When he spreads his wings, it illuminates the entire Mt. Inferno antechamber in which he resides. His teeth, claws, and horns are shiny and black, resembling obsidian. He has a thagomizer on the end of his tail, much like a stegosaurus.

The first thing you will notice about Grimhide are his eyes. They are a blazing red with catlike pupils, and they glow in the dark. You may also notice small sparks and embers flying from his nostrils as he breathes.

His smoky breath smells a lot like a pine wood campfire burning on a cold winter's morning.

Grimhide has the most powerful fire breath out of all dragons in Altairus.

Grimhide wears plain metal bracers on his forelegs that look much like chains one would put on a prisoner. Entirely appropriate, considering his profession.

Grimhide was born somewhat towards the end of the Golden Era. Descended from the legendary Typhon of the Typhonic Plains, he grew up in a clutch of about 10 eggs. For the most part, his upbringing was fairly peaceful.

This would all change when the War of the Wendigoes started. Grimhide was feared amongst the shadow demons for his incredible strength and tenacity. It was said that his fire breath fried alive countless wendigoes who dared set foot into the Typhonic Plains.

Soon after the War ended, another bout of chaos broke out. With all the guards of Mt. Inferno dead, the criminals held within escaped and began wreaking havoc all across the continent of Cirkea. After a massive effort was made to capture all these lost outlaws, Grimhide was put in charge of guarding the entrance to the underground prison. There is where he has remained ever since.

Grimhide has a reputation amongst the wendigoes as the strongest and most fearsome beast they have ever had to face. Even Nemesis is scared of Grimhide.

Grimhide was the only one in his clutch to survive the War of the Wendigoes. Likewise, he had a clutch of eggs in which all but two eggs were shattered in the wreckage. He took these eggs with him to Mt. Inferno, where they soon hatched into the lava dragons Goliath and Gilgamesh.

Grimhide takes his job as Mt. Inferno's warden very seriously.

As big and strong as he is, Grimhide cannot fit through the narrow entrance to the Mt. Inferno dungeon inside his cave. He has to get Goliath and Gilgamesh to go down there for him. It's also quite easy for smaller beings to slip past him by going underneath his torso,

Grimhide has two surviving whelps, Goliath and Gilgamesh. It is believed that he is a direct descendant of Typhon, though Grimhide himself has been silent about the speculation.

Despite what you might think, Grimhide can indeed speak. His voice carries a booming power with it that intimidates just about everyone he meets.

Grimhide has accumulated a pile of treasure from the criminals he watches over, which he sits on while guarding the entrance to Mt. Inferno. No one has ever dared to try and steal it.
