The Victim

Name: Matilda

• Question: Matilda, can you tell me what happened?
• Answer: I just gave a box to the person in purple fur, and then that person beat me up. He slammed me against the wall and held me by the mouth. And I couldn't breathe. Then, I was suddenly in an alley. That big, mean person looked angry and not moving. There was a little person holding a knife to that mean person's neck, and this red lady was trying to be nice. But she seemed very scary, too. And then Ms. Hancock saved me. But this blue man showed up holding a ball of fire in his hands, threatening his friend. Ms. Hancock took me away from the mean person, and then I heard that blue man yell in pain. Then, the guards showed up.
• Question: Why do you think the blue man was the furry person's friend?
• Answer: Because he was telling that person to take me away.
• Question: Do you know if the other people were friends: the little person and the red lady?
• Answer: I don't know. They were near the purple and blue men and looked inside the box.
• Question: Did you know what was inside the box?
• Answer: No, I was paid to give it to the purple man.
• Question: Did someone ask you to give this package to the tall purple Firbolg?
• Answer: Yes, a big, tall person that looked like that mean purple man. And there was a beautiful lady next to him.
• Question: How much money did that person give you?
• Answer: 1 gold piece.
• Question: What did this other Firbolg look like?
• Answer: He was super tall with fluffy, mossy white fur and hair that looked like a carrot. He paid me a little silver to give his cousin that package. And maybe his cousin would give me some money to deliver it.
• Question: What did the lady look like?
• Answer: She was really skinny with scaly skin, like a lizard. She had very scary eyes, like a snake, and something alive under her hoody.
• Question: Where did you get the package?
• Answer: The man gave me the package near the store "Here We Drink Potions." Ms. Hancock was getting shaved ice with fish sauce for everyone, and I was watching that gold dragon man make potions.
• Question: What happened after you delivered the package?
• Answer: The tall mean firbolg opened the package and threw me against the wall. Then that fire blue-haired person said, "We shouldn't do this in public." And then the mean firbolg picked me up by the face with one hand. Then Ms. Hancock saved me.
• Question: Did anyone else try to help you out?
• Answer: No. Maybe. I don't know. I think there was a little person who was holding a weapon to the mean person's neck. And a red lady was trying to be kind. I think. Ms. Hancock came and saved me.

The Accused

Name: Amy Hancock

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us?
• Answer: I saw that giant of a person, whom I believe is a Firbolg, received a package from Matilda. While Matilda patiently awaited a tip, the Firbolg opened the package. Soon after, the Firbolg slammed Matilda to the wall and started yelling at her. The Firbolg continued to yell and slap Matilda. None of their acquaintances nearby did anything except for one other, the Genasi. He said something to the monster, then shortly after, woven a spell that made Matilda go limp. Once she was even more helpless, the brute dragged her into an alley by the face. Meanwhile, the rest of the acquaintances around them followed. I quickly gathered the other kids that I was watching over and headed to the alley. As I got closer to the alley, the drow stepped out and attempted to get in my way. I then head to the alley entrance. In the alley, I saw them all cluttered in front of Matilda and the Firbolg. One of the acquaintances had his weapon pointing at the Firbolg. Another, the Tiefling, looked like she was trying to calm down Matilda. The other little girl was trying to calm down the Firbolg. And the Firbolg was frozen in place. I was unsure if this was all a show or not. So, I continued to force my way between them and to become a shield for Matilda. That is when the Genasi seemed to play his role and threaten the Firbolg with an evocation spell as I moved to move Matilda and myself out of harm's way. He lunged at me, and I lashed out in defense, causing him harm. Then I warned them not to approach any further, or they'll meet the same fate. That is when the guards finally arrived.
• Question: Are you not Matilda's caretaker?
• Answer: Yes
• Question: Where were you during the assault?
• Answer: I was getting the kids some shaved ice with oyster trout sauce. And I was watching Matilda deliver the package.
• Question: So, you knew that she had a package?
• Answer: Yes.
• Question: Did you know what was inside the package?
• Answer: No.
• Question: Why did you let Matilda go alone?
• Answer: In my line of work, children reach a point where they need some independence. Matilda is at that age, so I felt it appropriate to let her do the task for which she was paid. I stayed a relatively safe distance away, and I was glad I arrived on time, just in case something happened.
• Question: How did you know where to find Matilda?
• Answer: Like I said, I finished grabbing the shaved ice and watched her deliver the package. I saw that brute body slam Matilda against the wall. The genasi say something to the brute and then use some kind of magic. After that, Matilda went limp. Then they took her away. That bastard was dragging her by the face!
• Question: How do you know that the genasi cast a spell?
• Answer: I am familiar with the nature of the arcane. I'm a licensed, caring, magical practitioner. However, I studied the drudic circle of dreams and could only identify the use of the weave. But not the woven spell.
• Question: Did you willingly cast an offensive magical spell?
• Answer: Yes. I used my druidic abilities to defend myself and Matilda from hostilities that were previously displayed by those in the alley. I had struck the genasi as he assaulted and battered me while moving Matilda to a safer location. I also gave them a verbal warning to no longer approach Matilda and me.
• Question: Do you have a license to use magic?
• Answer: Yes.
• Question: Do you know the person who assaulted Matilda?
• Answer: Not directly, but I recognize some of their scents from somewhere. Unfortunately, I'm unable to place it.

Witness: Child 1

Name: Joshua

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: Matilda just bought us all some tasty shaved ice from our favorite food person. Then I heard Ms. Hancock say, "Kids follow me." I saw Ms. Hancock look concerned, and I, a huge person, hurt Matilda. So, I helped Ms. Hancock with the other kids. I saw that big person and a bunch of other people take Matilda down the street. As Ms. Hancock got closer, a mean-looking lady stepped out. But Ms. Hancock walked past her. Then Ms. Hancock told me to go get the guards, and she continued down the alley. So, I started to run to grab the guards, but then I couldn't move. My whole body was tingly, but that didn't last that long. And then that mean lady tried to grab a hold of me. But I'm good at wiggling out of things. But she kept trying to stop me from getting the guards. I kept yelling for help. My brothers and sisters from the orphanage started to help out. Then, the guards showed up and showed up. They must have heard me yelling, or somebody else got them.
• Question: Did you see that Matilda had a package?
• Answer: Yes. She paid for the shaved ice with the money she had gotten from the job.
• Question: Did you know what was inside the package?
• Answer: No.
• Question: Did you see who gave Matilda the package?
• Answer: No.
• Question: Did you know the mean lady?
• Answer: No, I had never seen her before.
• Question: Do you know why she tried to take you?
• Answer: No. But I'm sure she probably wanted to hurt me like the others hurt Matilda.
• Question: You mentioned that you felt tingly. Do you know what happened?
• Answer: I don't know. Suddenly, I couldn't move.
• Question: What were you doing before the incident?
• Answer: We were getting some shaved ice.
• Question: Is Ms. Amy Hancock your guardian?
• Answer: Yes
• Question: Did you know that Matilda was going to deliver a package?
• Answer: Yes. She showed it to Ms. Hancock and asked permission to deliver it to those bad people.

Witness: Child 2

Name: Leroy

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: I was eating some shaved ice with Joey and Janet. Then Ms. Hancock told us to follow her, but she seemed upset about something. We were walking down the street really fast when Ms. Hancock was about to go down another street. She yelled for Joshua to go get the guards. And when we caught up to where Ms. Hancock yelled for Joshua. We saw Matilda surrounded by a bunch of people. One of those people had fire in his hands. And this elf lady, who I think came out of the road, started attacking Joshua. She was trying to stop him from getting the guards. She was also calling out his name. So the others and I tried to stop her, but she was strong. Then, the guards showed up.

• Answer: Yes. She had asked Ms. Hancock if she could deliver it on her own.
• Question: Did you know what was inside the package?
• Answer: No
• Question: Did you see who gave Matilda the package?
• Answer: No
• Question: Did you know the lady who tried to stop Joshua?
• Answer: No. I don't know why she tried to stop Joshua from getting help.
• Question: Why did you attack the lady?
• Answer: She was trying to hurt Joshua and had to help him.
• Question: What were you doing before the incident?
• Answer: We were eating some shaved ice with fish sauce.

Witness: Child 3

Name: Janet

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: We were playing in the square with our shaved ice with fish sauce. Ms. Hancock told us to follow her, and I saw this purple figure holding Matilda by the face. There was a group following that big person. That made me really concerned about what they're planning on doing to Matilda. Soon after they turned down an alley, a drow came out of it. Don't you know drow were banished to the underdark by their god? Then, their skin turned dark to better camouflage themselves in the darkness. Oh, I'm sorry. But I think that Drow was part of the group. Ms. Hancock then told Joshua to go grab the guards once she saw what was in the alley, and she then charged into the alley. Once I got there, I saw Ms. Hancock in front of all those people. Once I got there, I saw a man holding fire near Ms. Hancock. However, that drow started attacking Joshua. So, I encouraged the rest of us to help protect Joshua.

• Answer: Yes. She got permission from Ms. Hancock to go deliver it.
• Question: Did you know what was inside the package?
• Answer: No
• Question: Did you see who gave Matilda the package?
• Answer: I saw this tall man wearing green and had orange hair. I think they were close to "Here Be Potions." That shop tends to give free sweet treats to us kids. But I don't know the species of that person who gave Matilda the box.
• Question: Did you know the lady who tried to stop Joshua?
• Answer: No. Only that she is drow and belongs to the underdark.
• Question: Why did you attack the lady?
• Answer: She was trying to stop Joshua from getting help.
• Question: What were you doing before the incident?
• Answer: We were eating some shaved ice with fish sauce.

Name: Joey

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: Ms. Hancock asked us to follow her, so we did. Then she asked for Joshua to go get the guards. Then I saw Matilda hurt and crying, and that made me mad. Then I saw this elf go after Joshua. Then Janet & Joey went to help Joshua. I threw my shaved ice at the elf and grabbed onto her leg.
• Question: Did you see that Matilda had a package?
• Answer: No, I was eating my salty treat.
• Question: Did you know the lady who tried to stop Joshua?
• Answer: No. But she was being mean to him.
• Question: Why did you attack the lady?
• Answer: Because she was being mean to Joshua.

Witness: John Doe 1

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: Ay, I was about doing my business. And then I heard a crash. It's like when a wild cart hits a stone wall. I looked up from my food cart and saw this giant creature holding a tiny girl in its palm. That thing slapped her several times, and one of its buddies said something. The genasi with them said something to the person holding the child. I couldn't make out the words. Shortly after, the child went limp, and the bully, the genasi, and the other people around them calmly walked away with the child. After that, I went looking for the nearest guard.

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: I was walking into Saumon Square to do a little shopping. I walked past this group of folks talking to a girl. Shortly after I walked past, I heard this slamming noise followed by a scream of pain and tears. I saw this giant in the group holding up a little girl against the wall and slapping her around. Another group member, whom I believe is a fire genasi, told the giant not to do this here. Shortly after, he whispered something and the little girl went limp. This little girl is in trouble, and that is when I ran to get the guards.

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: I was walking up Saumon Street and saw a commotion. A bunch of kids were harassing a dark elf, but when I got closer to the situation, the kids looked like they were protecting one of the other kids from the dark elf. Then I got to an alleyway and heard someone scream in pain. I turned to look and noticed a fire genasi yelling in pain. He was bleeding from a chest wound. This woman was also in the center of the alley with a child holding onto her legs tightly. She seemed to say something threatening to the people in the alley.

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: I just turned onto Saumon Street when I noticed a drow trying to pin down a kid. That kid yelled for the guards, but the drow couldn't get a hold of the kid no matter how hard she tried. She probably wanted to use that kid for some underdark ritual. I also saw the other kids implore the drow to let the kid go, but she wouldn't relent even until the guards showed up. She tried to handcuff the poor child.

• Question: Can you recount the situation to us from your perspective?
• Answer: I was in Saumon Square and heading towards Oghma Domain, and that is when I saw a Firbolg body slam a little girl into a wall. I stood there in shock as the giantkin smacked the child around. There was a cluster of people around or nearby that could stop the assault. But all they did was stand there except for a fire genasi. The fire genasi seemed familiar to the firbolg. He said something to him, then waved his fingers around, and the girl fell asleep. After that, I knew she was in trouble, so I got the guards.
