Personal history
Viriato is a gifted student. Excelling in all of his class. No one could deny that he qualified for great things. Most expected him to be selected as a candidate for engineering or exploration. However everyone was surprised, most of all Viriato, when the Chair of Aeronautics picked him as her apprentice. Viriato became the first man to ever be picked as a Chair. Few could deny he was qualified but even fewer acknowledged him. His mentor and a few of his friends were the only ones who saw Viriato for who he was. A gifted engineer.
Education
From a young age Viriato excelled in school. He was smart but he worked hard to maintain his status in the face of discrimination. He had few friends but they helped to keep him going. Then Viriato qualified for higher education. Acing the engineer test. This is where Viriato was able to show off his gift. He blew away all of classmates making several designs by the time he was up for graduation. It was at the ceremony that he was picked to be the next Chair of Aeronautics.

Failures & Embarrassments
Once tried to demonstrate one of his designs to his class. He failed to articulate his points and was asked to stop and return to his seat. This haunts him, he lives in a small buble
Mental Trauma
Not at all charismatic. His dedication to his study and years of bulling has left him with a lack of social awareness. He likes people, he just doesn't know how to reach out to strangers. In simple terms he doesn't understand or get what a first impression is.
