Conciliary Hall

The Council of Grenagem meets regularly in the circular building in the center plaza between all of the individual department buildings. The Conciliary Hall holds a meeting room for the Council, as well as a specially designed bunker that can hold several thousand people in the case of an emergency like a foreign attack.

Purpose / Function

The hall is where the Council spends the majority of their days. They discuss and work in a central room, where they recieve information from runners that go between the council room and the respective departments. After the break for lunch in the early afternoon, each Chair returns to their department, where they remain until the day is done around sunset. The hall itself is where most legislation is created, and where all discussion of city matters takes place. It allows for any councilwoman to bring up issues and present their own ideas. Apprentice Chairs may be present at said meetings, but are usually back in their respective departments, taking care of any business that does not require the immediate attention of the Chair.

Design

The building is designed as a series of concentric circles, all perfectly centered, with the council table in the middle.

Entries

Each Chair has their own entrance to the building that faces directly out to their respective department building. These doors were added some years after the original construction, as the department buildings did not exist, so only one door was made.

Alterations

The council building is one of the oldest buildings in the city, it was designed before any of the departments even had their own buildings, and as a result, much of the space was abandoned, and has since been converted to an iron bunker.

Architecture

The architecture of the Hall is rather eloquent, compared to the rest of the city. Still utilitarian, but it is one of the few non-rectangular buildings, and there are several decorations inside. The roof of the main council room is a large glass dome, which provides sufficient light most days, and when it cannot, there has now been installed Alum lamps in the center of the circular table.
