Bluetide District
Demographics
Tantani 90%, locals 3%, other 7%
Government
As a Tantani slum, there is loose governance at most within the Bluetide District; it falls under the jurisdiction of Grenagem at large.
Industry & Trade
The arts are huge in the Bluetide district. Most renowned Tantani poets, playwrights, and authors live here, as well as an abundance of all kinds of traditional artists. Theater shows are commonly enjoyed and innovated to reflect current political issues, as well as the tastes of the people at present, be they bawdy or intellectual - there is a surprisingly refined culture for art appreciation here, and the only constant is that the Tantani like subversion of the government, or at least its most problematic ideals.
The community is highly involved with the art it consumes. Interactive art is common, as are simple parties and other festivities that couldn't happen almost anywhere else in Grenagem.
Infrastructure
Commerce is lively for a Tantani slum, not that that's saying much. Various craft items including clothing and handmade goods are exported and traded inside of the Bluetide district, and fishing is very prominent and vital to the economy. Factory work is also a staple profession here. Illegal trades such as the drug market are lively here as well - again, for a Tantani slum.
Assets
The studios and theaters of the Bluetide district are what it is best known for, and what bring in many people from elsewhere who buy fish and crafted goods, livening up the Bluetide district's economy so it can sustain its artistic fixtures. These areas are well known to locals and external Tantani in the know, but beyond that they are a closely kept secret, in order to protect them from the government. The artistic sites are even constructed so they can be hidden or disguised as a factory or fishmonger's at extremely short notice.
Guilds and Factions
Each major art form has its own collection of creators who are viewed as the masters of their crafts. These groups meet often to discuss the state of their work and their community.
History
The Bluetide district became how it is today in large part thanks to a Tantani poet who lived there when it was just like any other slum. He started reciting his own poetry out of his home, and according to legend (which is, in this case, a somewhat hyperbolized version of the truth), the whole art culture spun out of that. From this inception onward, the art of the Bluetide district has been closely intertwined with the struggles of the Tantani.
