Alum Light

When people started to figure out that Alumentum was toxic, a storage device was invented. The typical storage device was a small metal cylinder about 30x8x8cm. The first alum light was just a modded storage device that had thick glass walls. Allowing for the faint glow of Alum to shine through. Since then mixtures have been discovered that interact with Alum in different ways. One of which stimulates Alum making it glow brighter.   This mixture has continued to be experimented with. The goal to make the least amount of Alum last as long as possible. At this point a cylinder filled with the mixture can have teaspoon of Alum dust last about a week.

At first used to help miners illuminate caves and mines. Since then it has been commercialized filling up government buildings and the homes of Nobles. Some middle class can afford one or two.
