Rise of Creed and Croy

The Rise of brothers Creed and Croy in Nevora.

After hundreds of years of the population increasing and people now beginning to innovate and thrive once again, it was due time for war. But not without war's best friend, profit. A group of particularly affluent Hylaks sailed out south on a particularly risky venture. They had heard of the iron-rich soil to the south and were attempting to strike a deal with the natives, where they would exchange precious resources for the iron which would be used to make weapons they would sell back home to militias.   So who were the humans that struck it rich? None other than two brothers who ran a small mining operation, Creed and Croy. With precious metals, wood, livestock and other resources that no one else in Nevora possessed, the brothers were able to expand across the continent and buy out their competition with ease. Now with an ever expanding labor force and a massive amount of wealth accumulated in a few decades, this led to an oligarchy of the brothers and a few of their associates who conducted business across a handful of cities. Croy had a seaside city built that he called Cisory, declared himself the king of the south, and renamed the continent after himself. At that point, if you weren’t going to work for the brothers you were going to die.   During his brother’s uncontested triumph, Creed had received a vision. While they had a dynasty, there was something far greater to look towards: Godhood. Creed began hearing a voice known as Skahn, the god of hatred and spirit of darkness. Skahn told Creed he was created out of spite towards the other gods and how they had damned him and humanity. He told Creed he was once the god Luto responsible for Amora’s cycle of war, but after being buried for millennia his hatred for the other gods had corrupted him until he was reduced to an immortal spirit, but if they could rid the world of the damned they could grow powerful enough to kill the gods and create a new world. The issue was that Skahn needed a vessel, a powerful one, but Skahn ensured Creed he would become one with him. Creed confided in his brother about these great visions and departed to reach the new world after the war had essentially ended. He paid the elves handsomely to protect him and guide him through the same route they used to return to the east, as traveling by sea was nigh impossible due to Oxomus’ tempest. He would reside in an area known as The Nest and move across small settlements until he reached the city of Myrcoth. It was the most diverse city in the lands and well protected.   Skahn told him it would be a great sacrifice to empower him. Over the course of a decade in the privacy of his home, Creed would perform dark sacraments every night while appearing like an ordinary, well off, middle aged citizen throughout the day. Eventually his ritual produced the Spirit of Skahn in physical form, a deep red smog that could burn away flesh and wood and crack the hardest of stone. This left the city in shambles and killed most of its people but allowed Creed to become partially divine yet fully treacherous.   As a small group of Myrcothian stragglers were left to fend for themselves in the wild, Creed appeared to them in his now divine form, Sha’shaz Grakatan, The Golden Serpent. He told them he could keep them safe and led them into the Ochiband, a dense mostly uncharted jungle. The survivors worshiped him as a god and established a settlement known as Tamagrak.   Skahn’s empowerment of Creed allowed him to return home by teleportation. He informed his brother, who was nearing the end of his life, of his deeds and that he would make sure his heirs would also know them and how to assist him. He held up this promise and kept every king up to date on his plans. These plans had not changed for nearly a millennium until Skahn gave him another vision (12 yrs before campaign). With another war on the rise, it was time to focus on a new group of people. He returned one last time to Tamagrak and burned it down. He then killed a respected sage in the community, Ymir, and assumed his identity, kidnapped Ymir’s infant, Havenn, to take as his own, and fled the Ochiband with the survivors. They came across a group of Proxsolan soldiers and explained the catastrophe that occurred and how they needed refuge. The soldiers escorted them to the city of Proxsola and the Nine Star Council voted to provide them with residency and citizenship, with special thanks to Creed/Ymir’s silver tongue.
