A tragedy on Nord ends the Montbazon family.

In the north, the heroes returned from the third dark war to find winter settling over the islands of Arran, Nord and the Sisters. This winter proved to be harsh as many had fought in the war and supplies were thin. The people of Nord turned towards their friends in the River Court only to find closed borders. The Elenhos of Nord had turned away from the mortal realm in their pursuit of power. The Dwarves of Baztek proved no more helpful to Nord. The Underdark's darker denizens had found the many tunnels beneath the island and its riches. As the island grew hungry, a disease began to ravage the population, the cold and wet adding to the dark mood. The many heroes of Nord were spent, many of them wanting to retire rather than face such a slow and difficult fight. And so the people suffered, and the healers worked throughout the long cold winter.   As the cold broke and the rivers began to fill with the melting snow from the mountains, a small Varisian family in the south of Nord reported a new plague striking its people. The Scarlet Pox caused the sufferer to have a flush all over their skin as if they were embarrassed from head to toe. But this was no laughing matter for as the patient's skin grew red they also grew weak, finally collapsing at home or in the street. Then strange red welts would appear across their body, and death would soon follow. The healers of the family struggled and struggled against this disease, isolating at first individuals, then whole neighborhoods as they tried to slow the spread of the disease. The sinister nature of the disease became apparent on the Night of Fire when every healer of the family disappeared or was found hung in the morning. Had they decided, in their shame, that this was a hopeless cause or had some other agent been at work? The leaders of the family, feeling despair for their children and friends cried out into the night for guidance, for a savior from this evil. They closed the doors to the town of not wanting the plague to spread beyond the family's holdings and waited.   Whilst the town of Vò suffered through the night the leaders of the Nord Tuomi meet and voted to quarantine the entire town. Benji Cavalcante, the Tuomi's Patrone, decreed the family was no-more, all its holdings would be kept sacred to warn others of the dangers of being ill-prepared. They called on their druidic allies to block the river's estuary flooding the town and estate in the hope of cleansing the land of the toxin. Guards and patrols were setup to make sure that none would leave the area for fear of spreading the disease, and so the Montbazon disappeared into history. The lands became the Swamp of Songs of the southern point of Nord.
