Zolreg

Minor God

  Moon: Golden
  Domains: Dignity and Rightness
  Symbol: Bull Head
Mortal History In their arrogance, the halflings shaped the Minotaurs as perfect beasts of labor: strong, enduring, intelligent, and endowed with a sense of community that rivaled that of their creators. But the halflings had underestimated their spirit. Zolreg, a respected leader among the Minotaurs, sought to negotiate with the halfling authorities so that his people might be recognized as equals. He was met only with scorn and derision. Realizing that open revolt would lead to massacre, he chose another path: exile. Under his guidance, the Minotaurs secretly prepared rudimentary boats. When rebellion finally broke out, some fought with fury, but the majority followed Zolreg to the sea. The voyage was terrible: many died of hunger, thirst, or disease. Yet those who survived reached a new land—free for the first time. They built a fishing village, simple yet dignified. When the Fire Elves discovered them, they refused to grant them land, but neither did they slaughter them. Instead, they shared food and knowledge, allowing the Minotaurs to endure and grow stronger. Through his wisdom and integrity, Zolreg transformed a people of slaves into a free community.
Divine Ascension At his death, Zolreg was mourned as the father of a nation. The Minotaurs, and even other oppressed peoples, began to honor him as a symbol of dignity and justice. Their fervor raised him to the rank of a minor god. Today, Zolreg embodies righteousness in the face of oppression and the dignity of free peoples. His faithful say that when a people is reduced to slavery, a deep voice resounds in their dreams, reminding them that no chain is eternal.
