Mortal Story
Saelik was a leprechaun of the dream world, restless and bored with his existence. Unlike most fairy folk, who avoided human settlements for fear of being ensnared in mortal dreams, Saelik wandered into a human town. Protected by his spells, he discovered a strange gift: he could see the dreams of humans.
At first, he used this power kindly—helping children overcome nightmares, comforting the lonely. But soon, he realized that people confided in him freely, believing him to be only a figment of their imagination. Their secrets became intoxicating. The more he learned, the more euphoric he felt.
He traveled from town to town, harvesting secrets like a drug. Yet in time, he stumbled upon darker truths—secrets so vile and twisted that they scarred him. He could not reveal them without losing part of his essence, but he could not bear to let them roam free either. So he chose another path: he trapped their owners in eternal dreams, binding them to the night forever.
This act marked his transformation. No longer a playful wanderer, Saelik became a shadowed figure, half‑comforter, half‑tormentor, and soon after, he was elevated to godhood.
Ascension
Saelik ascended as the god of Secrets and the Night, embodying both the allure of hidden knowledge and the danger of its corruption. He is invoked by spies, whisperers, and those who guard dangerous truths. He is also feared, for his presence in dreams can mean either solace from nightmares—or eternal entrapment within them.
